“Fantastic portable GPS !”

Love this portable GPS! I researched GPS devices for 6 months before choosing this one. The screen is easy to read in bright sunlight, the text-to-speech is flawless, and satellite lock is decently quick, although not as quick as one would like it to be. I used this device in the hills near Yosemite and it worked on little side roads and in narrow valleys too.

Bluetooth connectivity is impressive. Once the GPS has paired with your cellphone, you can pull up your cellphone’s phonebook on the GPS screen and hit the “dial” button right there. Sweet!!
But wait, it gets sweeter. You can locate a point of interest (e.g. a restaurant) in the GPS database, look up its details, and hit “dial” to call it RIGHT FROM YOUR GPS SCREEN! No need to whip out your phone from your pocket and punch in the number.

You can’t beat the free traffic and free lifetime map updates. Garmin released two new maps during the 4 months that I owned this device (after which it was stolen from my car.) Some people complain about the unsolicited coupons that show up as part of the traffic service, but in my 4 months of ownership I saw maybe 6 coupons, and those too were displayed when the traffic cable was connected and the GPS was booting up.

Although I was initially circumspect about the suction mount, I found that it works very well if you treat it gently.

All in all, this is a super GPS device that I will probably buy again (to replace the one that was stolen, of course).
